Artist Bio

By travelling different parts of the world I've found a whole new universe of potential and different ways of thinking, pushing boundaries of what can be done.  The landscapes and horizons of Australia, Mountain ranges in the French Alps inspired me to pick up my paintbrushes. Art was everywhere I looked, the energy of individuals and places and a painting at every turn.

I’ve always been interested in art and had a love for the old masters; Rembrandt, Turner and Caravaggio are afew of my gods. The tools they used demonstrate how materials have developed over the centuries. Now life is easy, any medium is readily available, I love working in Oils for the richness, glow and feeling of substance as you work. Watercolours are another of my favourites for travel and for the softness they bring, the delicate way they have to be treated to produce the finish and effect you desire.

Richard Stuttle Painting a picture is time and energy, in every moment your vision and focus changes. Because of this a painting captures the feeling, environment and atmosphere of a scene where as a photograph catches only the moment. The world is an interpretation of what's seen by the individual, making art purely unique to the Artist who has had the thought to create it.

My Father is a well known Yorkshire Artist and has inspired me from day one, encouraging my every step to learn more and improve myself as a person and an Artist.
